FAQ

What do the different wheel sizes mean?

Each of our three wheel sizes offer different benefits to the rider. In terms of performance, essentially the smaller the wheel the faster it accelerates. And the larger the wheel the higher the speed it can maintain. In terms of ride quality smaller wheels are very responsive and aid in how direct the steering can be. Larger wheels roll over small bumps and “chatter”, rather than falling into them, making for a smoother ride than a smaller wheel.

20" Wheels

They have the obvious benefit of being small to decrease weight and storage space. They also offer fast and efficient acceleration off the mark. This aids in battery life in stop start conditions, as well reduces the input needed to get started.

24" Wheels

They offer similar benefits to 20” wheels in terms of weight, storage size as well as acceleration of the mark. The small amount of acceleration lost in the larger wheel size is compensated for, by being able to hold a higher speed more comfortably and with less effort. The larger size wheel also offers a smoother ride if the terrain is rough.

26" Wheels

They are not as fast off the mark as the smaller wheel sizes. What they do offer is a higher speed that can be maintained with less effort and less battery power. They also offer a smoother ride as the larger wheel size will roll over small bumps and holes.

What is battery range and how is it measured?

The range of a battery is how far you can travel between charges. It is measured in amp hours (Ah). The higher the Ah the more range your battery has. This will vary depending on weight of user, terrain and mode of pedal assistance used.

Battery Range
36V 7.8Ah 18 miles
10Ah 25 miles
13Ah Approx 40 miles

What affects the range of a battery?

There are a number of factors that affect the battery range, this includes rider and load weight, terrain, tyre pressure and the surface being ridden.

Are Byocyles bikes covered by warranty?

Yes, all our bikes come with a two year warranty covering the frame, motor and battery. Electronic components such as LED display, throttle and electronic brake cut off also have a 2 year warranty. We give a 1 year warranty on the charger, lights and all non-wearing mechanical parts.

Do I pay for extended warranty?

No you do not pay for extended warranty. This is offered free of charge if you register your bike through our website.

How does ‘pedal assist’ work?

When you pedal, the motor is automatically activated and will give you an appropriate amount of power depending on your pedalling.

Your Byocycle has 4 power levels of electric assists. Each level increasing the assistance from the motor. Level 4 can take you up to 15.5 mph. So when going uphill, move to a higher power level to even out the hill.
