The Catherine House project a dedicated student accommodation block which involved the conversion of landmark building Zurich House in Portsmouth and construction of an adjoining building to provide, brand new and state of the are 1000 bed student accommodation block. The 51.5 million pound renovation and redevelopment project took 2 years to complete, is set within the heart of vibrant Portsmouth and is facilitating 1000 students studying at Portsmouth University. The accommodation is not just helping students but has also helped ease residential pressures within the city.
The Solution
GSA (Global Student Accommodation) consulted with the reputable, Huddersfield baesd Abzorb networks when looking for a CCTV solution that provided High definition images in critical communal areas across what is a very large building. Abzorb Networks, a Qvis platinum partner were tasked with implementing the entire network project infrastructure incorporating CCTV. It was decided that Qvis, 4 mega pixel, motorised zoom lens, vandal domes were most suitable for aesthetic in keeping, application and environment. The cameras are connected to 3 x 32ch λ | Cortex NVRs with 32Tb Hard disk drive storage in each NVR and are controlled via Qvis viewer CMS software populating 8 screens via a dedicated client management system. The solution provides a reliable method of helping to secure the building, staff and residents.
